On 17 May Mei was force-fed by an inmate who had no medical skills at all, the feeding tube was wrongly inserted causing serious injuries. After she returned to her cell she had a headache and started to vomit blood, lapsed into a coma and never regained consciousness again. Mei was the 19th Falun Gong member to die in police custody.

Double murderer Michael Lee McBride is executed by lethal injection at the age of 38 in Huntsville Prison, 815 12th Street, Huntsville, Texas, United States. As the lethal drugs began taking effect McBride said: "Pretty cool, I feel it in the back of my throat. Bye."
