Just before Ramirez attacked 22-year-old Maria Hernandez outside the house, shooting her in the face with a .22 caliber handgun after she pulled into the garage. She survived when the bullet ricocheted off the keys she held in her hands as she lifted them to protect herself.

Member of the Rote Armee Fraktion Sigurd Debus dies due to internal bleeding in his head after being force-fed during a hungerstrike at the age of 39 in Justizvollzugsanstalt Fuhlsbüttel, Hamburg, Hamburg, Germany. Debus had been hungerstriking since 11 February 1981. Force-feeding started on 19 March 1981 and he fell into a coma on 10 April 1981.
