 Black circus workers and presumed rapists Elias Clayton, Elmer Jackson and Isaac McGhie are taken from jail and lynched by a white mob of thousands in Duluth, Minnesota, United States. Rumors had circulated that six African Americans had raped and robbed 19-year-old Irene Tusken. A physician's examination of Tusken subsequently found no physical evidence of rape.
