Hermann Schmitz is stabbed to death by serial killer Joachim Kroll aka Jockel aka Der Ruhrkannibale at the age of 25 in Großenbaum, Duisburg, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany.

Schmitz' girlfriend Marion Veen escaped unharmed.
