All 43 passengers and crew aboard the plane died. Burke's main target was his ex-manager Ray Thomson. After boarding the plane Burke wrote a message on an airsickness bag reading: "Hi Ray. I think it's sort of ironical that we end up like this. I asked for some leniency for my family. Remember? Well, I got none and you'll get none."

 117 Die in Air India Boeing 707-437 Flight 101 crash in Rochers de la Tournette, Mont Blanc, Haute-Savoie, France. In September 2013 a French alpinist found a metal box containing the Air India logo at the site of the plane crash on Mont Blanc containing rubies, sapphires, and emeralds worth more than $300.000, which he handed in to the police to be returned to the rightful owners.
