20 Die in private psychiatric hospital fire in Clinique Saint-François-d'Assise, Haut-Carcé, Bruz, Bretagne, France. All the patients, mostly depressed young women, were severely sedated and locked up behind barred windows. 30 patients were heavily burned. The fire started when a nurse, who also died in the disaster, helped escape a patient who set fire to solitary confinement room 22 and forgot to close the door. |
