McVitie's body was never recovered, probably thrown from a boat into the sea at Newhaven, Sussex by the Krays friend and associate Freddie Foreman. Following McVitie's murder, the Krays and several other members of their gang were finally arrested by Scotland Yard who had been watching their exploits for years.

Larisa Tkachenko is stabbed and strangled by serial killer Andrei Chikatilo aka The Rostov Ripper at the age of 17 in Rostov, Rostov Oblast, Russia.

Having driven Tkachenko to the forest Chikatilo tried to have sex with her but he could not get aroused. When Tkachenko began to make fun of him he struck her several times with a knife and strangled her with his hands. He stuffed her mouth with earth and bit off her nipple.
