Mathematician, logician, cryptanalyst, computer scientist and philosopher Alan Mathison Turing aka The Father of Computer Science commits suicide by cyanide poisoning at the age of 42 in Copper Folly, 43 Adlington Road, Wilmslow, Cheshire, United Kingdom.

When Turing's body was discovered, an apple lay half-eaten beside his bed, and although the apple was not tested for cyanide, it was speculated that this was the means by which a fatal dose was consumed. In 1952, Turing was convicted of acts of gross indecency after admitting to a sexual relationship with a man in Manchester. He was placed on probation and required to undergo hormone therapy.
