Ohnesorg was killed by plain-clothes police officer Karl-Heinz Kurras, who was an undercover agent of the East German secret police Stasi, during a protest meeting against a visit of the Sjah of Iran. His death would spark off the rise of the Baader-Meinhof-Gruppe, and its allies Bewegung 2. Juni.

Schleyer was taken from Brussels and shot dead en route to Mulhouse where his body was left in the trunk of a green Audi 100.
