17-year-old male prostitute Giuseppe Pelosi was arrested and confessed to murdering Pasolini. On 7 May 2005 he retracted his confession which he said was made under the threat of violence to his family. He claimed that three people "with a southern accent" had committed the murder, insulting Pasolini as a "dirty communist".

Singer-songwriter Leslie Cheung born as Cheung Fat Chung aka Gor-Gor (Elder Brother) commits suicide by leaping from the 24th floor of a hotel at the age of 47 in Mandarin Oriental, Central, Hong Kong, , China. Cheung's suicide note read "In my life I did nothing bad. Why does it have to be like this?"
