The plane crashed into a heavily populated residential area seconds after taking off. Dozens of houses and cars were destroyed and 49 people perished on the ground. 17 passengers survived the accident. Observers reported smelling Durian fruit in the crash, leading to suggestions that the plane was overloaded with the prized fruit. The director of the airline initially denied that durian was on board but later admitted that 2,7 tonnes were loaded.

Catholic exorcism victim Anneliese Anna Elisabeth Michel dies of malnutrition and dehydration at the age of 24 in Wilhelmstraße 84, Klingenberg am Main, Bayern, Germany. The autopsy report stated that Michel died of malnutrition and dehydration due to being in a semi-starvation state for almost a year while the rites of exorcism were performed. She weighed 30 kilograms, suffering broken knees due to continuous genuflections. She was unable to move without assistance, and was reported to have contracted pneumonia.
