Aviation pioneer Otto Lilienthal aka The Glider King dies of a fracture of the third cervical vertebra and a hemorrhage after falling the day before from a height of about 15 metres while still in his glider at the age of 48 in Universitätsmedizin Charité, Berlin, Berlin, Germany. Lilienthal's last words to his brother Gustav were "Opfer müssen gebracht werden!" |
