Kelly was shot in the left foot, left leg, right hand, left arm and twice in the region of the groin, although no bullet had penetrated his armour. Several members of the Kelly gang were shot dead, committed suicide or died in the building as Superintendent Sadleir decided to set fire to the hotel with permission from the Chief Secretary.

31-year-old spiritual master Meher Baba, originally Merwan Sheriar Irani aka Avatar decides to keep silent for the rest of his life in Meherabad, Maharashtra, India. Baba was communicating first by use of chalk and slate, then by an alphabet board and later by self-styled hand gestures. In January 1927 he gave up writing with pen or pencil also.
