Composer Rezső Seress born as Rudolf 'Rudi' Spitzer commits suicide by jumping from the window of his apartment at the age of 69 in Budapest, Közép-Magyarország, Hungary. Seress actually survived jumping out of his window, but later in the hospital choked himself to death with a wire. His song 'Szomorú Vasárnap (Gloomy Sunday)' sparked a worldwide wave of suicides in 1933. |
