King of Serbia Alexander I born as Aleksandar Obrenović is shot dead along Queen Draga Mašin by a mob of soldiers and civilians headed by the anti-monarchist colonel Dragutin Dimitriljevic Apis and Greek Orthodox militant Novak Perisic at the age of 27 in Stari Dvor, Beograd, Beograd, Serbia. King Alexander and Queen Draga were shot and their bodies mutilated and disemboweled and, according to eyewitness accounts, thrown from a second floor window of the palace onto piles of garden manure. |
