Evans was being transported from Rensselaer County to an Albany court. Evans had a handcuff key shoved deep into his sinus cavity and managed to free his hands while in the police van. When they reached the Troy-Menands Bridge Evans suddenly kicked out the side window of the vehicle, jumped out and started running. When police cornered him Evans leaped off the bridge and plunged to his death into the shallows of the Hudson River over 60 feet below.

Terrorist Timothy James 'Tim' McVeigh aka The Oklahoma City Bomber is executed by lethal injection at the age of 33 in Federal Correctional Complex, Terre Haute, Indiana, United States. McVeigh invited conductor and composer David Woodard to perform pre-requiem Mass music on the eve of his execution. McVeigh's last meal request was for two pints of mint chocolate chip ice cream. McVeigh chose William Ernest Henley's poem 'Invictus' as his final statement.
