The four all female survivors were seated on the left side and toward the middle of seat rows 54–60 in the rear of the aircraft. They were 26-year-old Yumi Ochiai, 34-year-old Hiroko Yoshizaki and her 8-year-old daughter Mikiko and 12-year-old Keiko Kawakami.

Double murderer Jeremiah Meacham is executed by hanging at the age of 42 in Newport, Rhode Island, United States. Meacham killed his wife and her sister on 21 March 1715. Meacham was executed in front of several thousand spectators and his body was hung in gibbets.
