Parker died in the suite of his friend and patron Baroness Pannonica de Koenigswarter while watching The Dorsey Brothers' Stage Show on television. Apart from the official causes of death Parker also had an advanced case of cirrhosis and had suffered a heart attack. The coroner who performed his autopsy mistakenly estimated Parker's 34-year-old body to be between 50 and 60 years of age.

After 4 days of riots 63-year-old businessman, philanthropist, public servant and politician Nelson Rockefeller orders New York State Police troopers and former prison officers to drop tear gas and retake the prison in Attica Prison, Attica, New York, United States. The troopers opened fire non-stop for two minutes into the smoke. By the time the facility was retaken, nine hostages and 29 inmates had been killed.
