Murderer Rainey Bethea is executed by hanging at the age of 27 in Owensboro, Kentucky, United States. Bethea's last meal request was for fried chicken, pork chops, mashed potatoes, pickled cucumbers, cornbread, lemon pie, and ice cream. A crowd of 20.000 people gathered to watch the execution with thousands coming from out of town.
