United Airlines Flight 93 departed Newark International Airport in New Jersey at 8:42 a.m. en route to San Francisco International Airport with a crew of seven and 37 passengers, not including four hijackers. The hijacking began at 09:28. A passenger revolt began at 09:57 after the passengers voted on whether to act. At 10:03 the plane crashed into a field near a reclaimed coal strip mine. The three other hijackers were 20-year-old Ahmed al-Haznawi, 24-year-old Ahmed al-Nami and 21-year-old Saeed al-Ghamdi.

Mr Delisse is shot in the head by serial killer Nestor Pirotte aka Le Tueur Fou in Genval, Brabant-Wallon, Belgium.

Pirotte, sentenced to death 13 years earlier, was out on parole.
