Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Johannes Eugen Rommel aka Wüstenfuchs commits suicide by cyanide poisoning at the age of 53 in Herrlingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Rommel was forced to commit suicide because he was implicated in the 20 July plot to assassinate the Führer.
