All 43 passengers and crew aboard the plane died. Burke's main target was his ex-manager Ray Thomson. After boarding the plane Burke wrote a message on an airsickness bag reading: "Hi Ray. I think it's sort of ironical that we end up like this. I asked for some leniency for my family. Remember? Well, I got none and you'll get none."

24-year-old serial killer Peter Kürten aka The Vampire of Düsseldorf tries to commit suicide by lacerating the skin over a main artery in Düsseldorf, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. He was sentenced to three years imprisonment for 34 burglaries and thefts in 1905.
