25-year-old mass murderer Richard Speck aka Born to Raise Hell tries to commit suicide by slashing his wrists in Starr Hotel, 617 W. Madison, Chicago, Illinois, United States. Speck was taken to Cook County Hospital at 12:30 a.m. the next day. At the hospital Speck was recognized by 25-year-old surgical Dr. LeRoy Smith, who had read about the murderer's 'Born To Raise Hell' tattoo in a newspaper story.
