Ball is known to have killed two and said to have killed as many as 20 women whose remains were fed to his five pet alligators. When two Bexar County sheriff's deputies went to question him, Ball pulled a handgun from his cash register and killed himself with a bullet through the heart.

Kidnapper and multiple murderer Eugen Weidmann aka The Handsome Devil is executed by the Guillotine at the age of 31 in Prison Saint Pierre, Place des Tribunaux, Versailles, Île-de-France, France. Weidmann's was the last public execution and the last one before the outbreak of the war.
