Beets was convicted to death for shooting her fifth husband Jimmy Don Beets on 6 August 1983. Also found buried in a garage were the remains of another Beets' husband, Doyle Wayne Barker. Beets did not request a final meal.

SS Sturmbannführer and commander of Auschwitz KZ Richard Baer dies of a heart attack at the age of 52 in Untersuchungshaft, Hammelsgasse, Frankfurt am Main, Hessen, Germany. Baer was awaiting trial in the 'Auschwitz Processe'.
