Rogulskyj was found by a passerby at 2:20 am. She was rushed to the casuality department at Airedale hospital and then was transferred to Leeds General Infirmary where she survived a twelve-hour operation which included the removal of splinters of bone from her brain and a steel plate was fitted to her skull. At one point she was given last rites but she survived.

Peter Frese is tortured by serial killer Jürgen Bartsch aka Der Kirmesmörder at the age of 14 in Luftschutzbunker, Heegerstraße 34, Langenberg, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany.

Frese managed to escape by burning through his bindings with a candle that Bartsch had left burning. His testimony led to the arrest of Bartsch three days later.
