After 5 minutes into the flight a bomb placed near the fuel tank exploded at 13,000 feet. Pablo Escobar of the Medellín drug cartel planned the bombing, hoping it would kill presidential candidate for the 1990 elections César Gaviria Trujillo. However Gaviria was not on the plane and would go on to become President of Colombia.

Murderess Ethel Lillie Major aka The Corned Beef Killer is executed by hanging by Thomas Pierrepoint, assisted by his nephew Albert Pierrepoint at the age of 42 in Hull Prison, Kingston upon Hull, West Riding of Yorkshire, United Kingdom. Major was the last person and only woman to be executed at Hull Prison.
