Clark spent the last 112 days of his life in a hospital bed attached to the Jarvik 7, a 180 kgs console that pumped air in and out of the aluminum-and-plastic implant through a system of hoses. Clark was constantly plagued by infections, drifting into and out of consciousness, at several points asking to be allowed to die.

The fresh corpse of 40-year-old Kenneth Whitacre is found on the ranch of 37-year-old serial killer Juan Corona aka The Machete Murderer in Yuba City, California, United States. In the next days a total of 24 bodies was excavated from Corona's ranch.
