Maudsley calmly walked into the prison officer's room, placed the dagger on the table and told him that the next roll call would be two short. Before Maudsley had already killed murderer Salney Darwood in his cell.

Double murderer Kenneth Lee Boyd is executed by lethal injection at the age of 57 in Raleigh State Prison, Raleigh, North Carolina, United States. Boyd was the 1000th person executed in the United States after the ban on capital punishment was lifted. His last meal request was for a a medium-well New York strip steak, a baked potato with sour cream, a roll with butter, a salad with ranch dressing and a Pepsi.
