55-year-old surgeon and grafting pioneer Serge Voronoff performs a monkey gland grafting on George Behr in Maison de Santé, Avenue Montagne, VIIIe, Paris, Île-de-France, France. Dr. Didry was assisting Voronoff and noted: "The patient left Paris 12 days after his operation. I did not see him again until 8 months later. My clinical assistant and I were literally stupefied when Mr. E. L. appeared. Me had lost half his obesity, his manner was jovial, his movements active, his eyes clear and twinkling with amusement at our astonishment." On 4 September 1923 Behr died of delirium tremens. |
