Spree killer Derrick Bird commits suicide by a shot in the head at the age of 53 in Boot, Cumbria, United Kingdom. Bird shot and killed twelve people including his twin brother David and injured another 12 while driving around and shooting from his Citroen Picasso taxi cab. The dead were his 52-year-old twin brother David Bird, 60-year-old family solicitor Kevin Commons, 43-year-old fellow taxi driver Darren Rewcastle, 75-year-old Susan Hughes, 71-year-old Kenneth Fishburn, 68-year-old Jennifer Jackson, 67-year-old James Jackson, 65-year-old Isaac Dixon, 31-year-old Garry Purdham, 23-year-old James 'Jamie' Clark, 64-year-old Michael Pike and 66-year-old Jane Robinson.
