Henri Tomei is stabbed to death by serial killer Herbert Mullin aka The Hippie Killer at the age of 67 in St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, 219 Bean Avenue, Los Gatos, California, United States.

Mullin thought the church was empty but when he heard Father Henri Tomei in one of the booths he decided "Well, if you (the priest) are in here, I guess I should kill you."
