The bomb was contained in a hollowed out ream of paper and had an accompanying letter explaining that it was a manuscript for review. It was opened by Nick Suino, an assistant to Dr. McConnell. The bomb exploded injuring both Suino and McConnell. Suino suffered burns and shrapnel wounds to his arms and abdomen. McConnell suffered damage to his ear drum resulting in temporary hearing loss. The bomb had the initials 'FC' stamped into one of the plugs sealing the pipe containing the explosives.

Kaspar Hubalek is killed, cut to pieces and eaten by serial killer and cannibal Karl Denke aka Papa Denke in Teichstraße 10, Münsterberg, Niederschlesien, Germany.

Hubalek was Denke's last known victim.
