29-year-old serial killer and leader of the so called 'Salaligan' Sigvard Thurneman, originally Sven Emil Sigvard Nilsson aka The Doctor is considered mentally ill and sent to psychiatric care for life in Västerås, Västmanlands Län, . The other members of Thurnemann's Sala Gang Eric Hedström, Roland Abrahamsson, Herbert Jansson and Åke Lindberg were sentenced to life imprisonment. Thurnemann was imprisoned at the Asylum of Säter and released in the 1960s.
