41-year-old bigamist and multiple murderer Johann Otto Hoch, originally John Schmidt aka The Bluebeard Murderer marries widow Barbara Brossett of San Francisco as Schmitt in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Schmitt disappeared two days later with $1.465,- of Brossett's money. She was so affected by the losses that she died afterward.
