Sturmführer of the SA Horst Ludwig Georg Erich Wessel dies of blood poisoning at the age of 23 in Städtische Krankenhaus, Friedrichshain, Berlin, Berlin, Germany. On 14 January Wessel was shot in the head by Communist Albrecht Höhler at his house in the Großen Frankfurter Straße 62.
