Irish republican hunger striker Terence James MacSwiney born as Toirdhealbhach Mac Suibhne dies after 73 days of hungerstriking at the age of 41 in Brixton Prison, Lambeth, London, Greater London, United Kingdom. Food was often placed near MacSwiney to persuade him to give up the hunger-strike. Attempts at force-feeding MacSwiney were undertaken in the final days of his strike. On 20 October he fell into a coma. His body lay in St George's Cathedral where 30.000 people filed past it. |
