Schiffer was still plugged into the device after he was discovered by guards. A post-mortem evaluation determined that Schiffer died as a result of heart failure caused by the electricity coursing through his body.

0-year-old Baby Fae, originally Stephanie Fae Beauclair has a baboon heart transplanted in the first successful infant heart transplant by Dr. Leonard Lee Bailey in Loma Linda University Medical Center, Loma Linda, California, United States. Baby Fae lived for 21 days with the baboon heart.
