Various accounts give the year of his birth as 1911, 1917 or 1918. Authors Paul Mason and William Jefferson say that he was born 12 January 1917 in Jabalpur. The place of birth given in his passport is Pounalulla, India, and his birth date 12 January 1918.

Start of the trial against 65-year-old soldier and adventurer Francis Charteris aka The Rape-Master General for the rape of Anne Bond on 10 November 1729 in Old Bailey Criminal Court, London, Greater London, United Kingdom. The jury quickly found Charteris guilty. On 2 March, he was sentenced to death and held in Newgate Prison. On 10 April 1730 after a substantial campaign to pardon Charteris, joined by Anne Bond, King George II granted him a royal pardon.
