37-year-old poet Arthur Rimbaud has his right leg amputated because of carcinoma in Hôpital de la Conception, Marseille, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France. The post-operative diagnosis was that Rimbaud suffered bone cancer—probably osteosarcoma.
