Murderer Ronald Joseph Ryan born as Ronald Edmond Thompson is executed by hanging at the age of 42 in Pentridge Prison, Coburg, Victoria, Australia. Ryan was the last person to be legally executed in Australia. He shot and killed warder George Hodson during an escape from Pentridge Prison in 1965.
