25-year-old aristocratic socialite and devotee of Adolf Hitler Unity Mitford attempts to commit suicide by a shot in the head when she hears her lover declare war to the United Kingdom in Englischer Garten, München, Bayern, Germany. Surviving the suicide attempt Mitford was hospitalised in München where she was visited by Hitler despite the on-going war. Hitler paid her bills and arranged for Mitford's return home.
