Political theorist and communist revolutionary Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, originally Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov is shot by revolutionary Fanya Kaplan aka The Woman Who Tried to Kill Lenin at the age of 48 in Moscow, Central Federal District, Russia. Kaplan approached Lenin at his automobile after a meeting at the Former Michelson Works; he was resting a foot on the running board as he spoke with a woman. Kaplan called to Lenin, and when he turned to face her she shot at him three times. The first bullet struck his arm, the second bullet his jaw and neck, and the third missed him, wounding the woman with whom he was speaking. The wounds felled him and he became unconscious. "My name is Fanya Kaplan. Today I shot at Lenin. I did it on my own. I will not say from whom I obtained my revolver. I will give no details. I had resolved to kill Lenin long ago. I consider him a traitor to the Revolution." |
