After sporadic firing failed to extract Bonnot from his hideout, Paris Police Chief Louis Lépine ordered the building bombed using a dynamite charge. The explosion demolished the front of the building. Barely conscious lying underneath a mattress, Bonnot was shot ten times in the upper-body before Lépine shot him non-fatally in the head. Bonnot was moved to the Hotel-Dieu hospital and pronounced dead at 1:15 pm.

Start of the trial against 57-year-old serial killer Robert Pickton aka The Pig Farmer Killer in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada. Pickton pleaded not guilty to 27 charges of first-degree murder. In 2007 Pickton confessed to forty-nine murders to an undercover police officer posing as a cellmate.
