Noting that the Volkswagen's front passenger seat was missing the police officer searched Bundy's car and found a ski mask, a second mask fashioned from pantyhose, a crowbar, handcuffs, trash bags, a coil of rope, an ice pick, and other items initially assumed to be burglary tools. Bundy explained that the ski mask was for skiing, he had found the handcuffs in a dumpster and the rest were common household items.

Heroine Jeanne d'Arc aka La Pucelle d'Orléans is executed by burning at the stake at the age of 19 in Vieux Marché, Rouen, Haute-Normendie, France. Her ashes were scattered in the Seine near Pont Mathilde by executioner Geoffroy Thérage.
