Actor Ramon Novarro born as José Ramón Gil Samaniego aka Latin Lover is murdered by 22-year-old Paul and 17-year-old Tom Ferguson at the age of 69 in Laurel Canyon, Hollywood, California, United States. Novarro had hired the Ferguson brothers from an agency to come to his home for sex but the two young men believed that a large sum of money was hidden in Novarro's house. Novarro died as a result of asphyxiation - having choked to death on his own blood after being beaten. Some say Novarro had in fact been suffocated with a lead dildo given to him 45 years earlier by Rudolph Valentino.
