On 17 May Mei was force-fed by an inmate who had no medical skills at all, the feeding tube was wrongly inserted causing serious injuries. After she returned to her cell she had a headache and started to vomit blood, lapsed into a coma and never regained consciousness again. Mei was the 19th Falun Gong member to die in police custody.

153 Die in Lockheed C-5A Galaxy crash in Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City Metropolitan Area, Vietnam. There were 175 survivors.
