41-year-old heroine of the women's suffrage movement Emily Davison runs on to the track and attempts to grab the bridle of Anmer, the horse owned by King George V in Epsom Downs, Epsom, Surrey, United Kingdom. Davison entered the race track in order to attach the Women's Social and Political Union flag to Anmer, so that when the horse crossed the finishing line it would be flying the WSPU flag. Davison died four days later in Epsom Cottage Hospital due to a fractured skull and internal injuries caused by the incident. |
