Günther carried two 20l milk canisters filled with petrol and poured them over himself before the altar while 300 people were attending mass. He then spread his arms and let the candles ignite his robe. Two more spare canisters exploded as the floor around the altar was covered in flames.

Monika Tafel is sexually assaulted and strangled by serial killer Joachim Kroll aka Jockel aka Der Ruhrkannibale at the age of 13 in Schwarzen Weg, Walsum, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany.

Tafel was found two weeks later in a cornfield during a helicopter search for missing girls.
