Giffard had beaten his 53-year-old father Charles and mother Elizabeth to death with a lead pipe on 7 November 1952. Giffard took the bodies and tipped them over the cliff at the end of the garden and then got in the car and drove to see his girlfriend in London.

Member of the Rote Armee Fraktion and Sozialistisches Patientenkollektiv Elisabeth von Dyck is shot dead by a police sniper during an attempt to arrest her at the age of 28 in Haus Stephanstraße 40, Nürnberg, Bayern, Germany. von Dyck was one of the guards of kidnapped Hanns Martin Schleyer at 'Haus Etna' in Den Haag in 1977.
